Towanna Murphy is Stellar Nominated 2018. Towanna was also nominated for a Spin Award, during this time Towanna was given The 2018 Stone Award for Best Radio Personality, and Community Activists, But Towanna will always n forever be a DANCER. I been dancing since age 13. Towanna has traveled to Africa twice, and China. I performed all over the world just about. Ive danced on Show Time at the Apollo, Walt Disney World Flordia, The Jeanette Robinson Show, Bobby Jones Gospel Show, Carnegie Hall New York, and various news stations. I started my journey as a dancer with Nefertari Dance Company (Milw), Ko-Thi Dance Company (milw), Signature Dance Company (mlw), GMWA (lead dancer), Full Gospel Convention dancer (string one dancer), and my own dance ministry (Omnipotent Dance Ministry. I have opened up for various artist such as Dorinda Clark-Cole, Myron Butler, Yolanda Adams, Marvin Sapp, Twinkie Clark, Rance Allen, Louise Patterson, just to name a few. ive worked major and ran major stages such as The Stellar Awards pre-show stage, GMWA stage, C.O.G.I.C stage, Ordinary People Magazine Stage, and many more. I sung with various groups such as; William Calloway and the Milwaukee Fellowship Chorale, Jerrel Reed and AS4C, Mark Hubbard, Mark Washington (W.O.W). Ive been directing since age 10, ive directed choirs such as: new hope Angel Choir, Mass Choir, Youth and Young adult choir, NAACP choir, Baptist Convention Choir, Jerrel Reed AS4C, FOPEM Choir, and i am presently directing Golden Gate Cathedral K.I.C.K Ministry Choir. I am a member of SAGMA, and NAACP (Milw Chapter). I also work with The Kidney Foundation, and spend time talking with women dealing with Domestic Violence. There's a whole lot more to my story, i just decided to narrow it down.
Towanna is a survivor coming from being homeless 3 times, a victim of Domestic Violence, and a Rape. Towanna didn't let that defeat her. Towanna kept pushing, becoming the First Black Female station Owner in Memphis, TN 4th in the Nation. Towanna continues to struggle, but she be defeated. She is now a Policy Council Representative, where she serves as a Rep for Porter Leath and Shelby County Schools.
